House Higher Education Committee hears bill revising Bright Flight: The House Higher Education Committee, chaired by Rep. Donna Lichtenegger, received testimony on HCS HB 2408. (Fitzpatrick) April 18. The bill proposes to phase out the Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship Program, commonly referred to as Bright Flight, and instead award a grant up to the actual cost of tuition.
To determine eligibility for the following programs, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid and have results sent to Rockhurst University.Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship (Bright Flight) Amount may vary.Missouri undergraduate students scoring in the top 3% of Missouri high school students taking the ACT or SAT. Scholarship renewable with full-time enrollment and cumulative GPA of 2.0. Application deadline is June 1.Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship - $1,000Missouri undergraduate students who rank in the top 15% of their high school class and plan to major in teacher education are eligible. Applications available from your high school or state. Not renewable.
Application deadline is March 1.Robert C. Byrd Honors - $1,500First-time freshmen who score in the 90th percentile on the ACT/SAT and rank in the top 10% of their high school graduating class. Applications available from your high school. Students must be enrolled full time.
